Volunteers are among the most important resources that FacetoFace has as a ministry. Our small staff can run large events because of the help and talent of individuals who have come alongside the Ministry to serve youth.

Ignite – AB and SK
Ignite summer camps are an opportunity for high school youth to grow in holiness. The week consists of daily mass and adoration, indoor and outdoor games, sessions with worship, testimonies and talks, shared meal times and small groups. As a small group leader, 5-7 youth are entrusted to you for the week to accompany, listen to, journey with, and have fun with! With close to 100 campers, being a small group leader and focusing in on the members in your group ensures that all campers are seen, known and loved. As a service crew member, your role is more behind the scenes - planning games, setting up the sessions, prepping for meals, cleaning up outside, doing supervision, etc. Other specialized roles include music ministry, pastoral care, photography and social media. Ignite SK is a weeklong, overnight camp. Ignite AB is a 4-day day camp.
Ignite Junior AB and SK
Ignite Junior is an opportunity for grades 6-8 youth to grow in holiness. Ignite Junior is run as a 3-day day camp and is a high energy, joy-filled place where youth can encounter Christ. Similar to Ignite, you can choose to be a small group leader or to be on service crew. (see above description for more details).
REUNIONS
In October, we organize small group reunions over our F2F Discord server for a one-hour video call to reconnect with our small groups from Ignite over the summer. This is an expectation of small group leaders that you would make time for this in the fall to reconnect with the youth from the summer.
Format: Online via Discord
Frequency: 2-3 times September through to June
Duration: correlates with how many chapters in the book of the Bible that is chosen (ie. 14 chapters = 14 days)
Age group: High school youth (must be 13 to join the Discord server)
Role: Team Captain
Details:
Being a team captain for TheWORD Bible Study means reading a chapter a day alongside the youth and sharing your reflections in the group chat on Discord. The role of the team captain is to champion your group, being a good example, affirming their reflections, giving reminders when necessary. The team captain is responsible for keeping track of their team’s points (or delegating a youth to do it).
The WORD Finale
Within 2 weeks of finishing The WORD Bible Study, all participants and team captains are invited to a one-hour finale online via Zoom to share their experience of participating in the study and spend some time with all of the other teams that participated! The winning team will also be announced.
Format: In-person
Frequency: Annually

Role: Service Crew and Relational Ministry
Details: FacetoFace hosts the United conference each fall, where over 200 people come together for an opportunity to renew faith and friendships. As volunteers, it is a great opportunity to reconnect with the same youth you served over the summer. There is a core team that focuses on planning and preparing for the conference, meeting bi-weekly starting in early September through to the conference. All other volunteers are invited for the weekend – there are no small groups, but there is an emphasis on relational ministry and intentionally connecting with youth throughout the weekend. In addition to relational ministry, volunteers will fulfill a service crew role by prepping and serving in the kitchen, resetting tables and chairs, prepping games, cleaning up from activities, etc. All volunteers are also expected to help with set-up and tear down before and after the conference.

Role: Small Group Leader OR Service Crew
Details: FacetoFace facilitates various weekend retreats, typically hosted in parishes, throughout Saskatchewan and Alberta. Weekend retreats are smaller than our Ignite camps and are a generally more laid-back atmosphere focused on community. A volunteer’s primary role would be a small group leader for the weekend, but may also include sharing a testimony, helping run a game, or helping serve and clean up at mealtimes.
